High-end boat transport

Parts loss, pickup/delivery method, and the requirements that keep the claim off you.

Do this now

Do not roll until seats, rails, ladders, cushions, and every loose part are photographed, listed, and signed. Open the high-end boat desk for the full method.

Must-have

  • 360 video and stills before load and after straps.
  • Parts list initialed by the owner — seats, rails, ladders, cushions, covers, keys, drain plug, prop.
  • Loose parts bagged and photographed. Nothing rides the gunwale.
  • Cargo that actually covers watercraft (ask the agent).
  • Beam and tower height legal for the route. Florida overwidth starts at 8 ft 6 in.
  • Delivery 360 before unstrapping. Signed receipt: all listed parts, or a written exception.

The rule

  • 49 CFR 393

Securement. Soft loops and gunwale protection. Never ratchet a strap over a rail, windshield, or seat.

  • Cargo / inland marine

General freight cargo often excludes boats. Hull value needs a watercraft endorsement.

What they don’t publish

  • Owners remember the boat as it sat in the slip. If a leaning-post, swim ladder, or four cushions are not on your pickup paper, they will be on your claim.
  • Marina hurry is how parts walk. If they will not stay for the walk, you do not load.
